Summer 2026 Guide

The Hottest Summer Tequilas of 2026

No sweeteners. No glycerin. No shortcuts. Just bottles that drink better in a poolside glass than a boardroom pour. My 3 picks + 25 more.

Y'all, here's the deal. Summer changes what you want in a tequila. You need bottles that pour clean in ranch water, don't collapse in a paloma, and hold up over ice at 95 degrees. Nobody wants a heavy, syrupy anejo in July.

Every bottle in this guide is additive-free — no glycerin, no caramel color, no sneaky sugar. Just agave, water, and yeast. The way tequila is supposed to be.

My 3 Summer Picks

If you only grab three bottles this summer — grab these.

The Ranch Water Anchor

Frequently Asked

Why do these three bottles specifically?

Summer tequila has to do specific work — pour into cocktails without disappearing, sip clean over ice, hold up in the heat. Tapatío Blanco is my ranch water anchor. Cascahuín Reposado is my back-porch sipper. Don Fulano Fuerte is what a bartender pours when they want the cocktail to actually taste like tequila. Together, that's every summer occasion covered.

What does "additive-free" actually mean?

Mexican law lets tequila producers add up to 1% of the bottle's weight in additives — glycerin, caramel color, sugar syrup, oak extract — without disclosing anything on the label. Additive-free tequilas skip all of it. Just agave, water, and yeast. That's why the good ones taste like the good ones — and why they don't wreck your morning.

Isn't "100% agave" the same as additive-free?

No — and this is the single biggest misconception. "100% agave" only means the fermentable sugars came from agave (no cane sugar mixed in). It says nothing about the 4 legal additives that can still be blended in. Additive-free is the higher standard. Every bottle we list here is both.

Which of the three is best for a paloma or ranch water?

Any of the blancos — but the Don Fulano Blanco Fuerte at 100 proof is the one that holds up best. Higher proof means less water dilution, so when the ice melts and the grapefruit soda thins it out, the tequila still tastes like tequila. Tapatío Blanco is the more budget-friendly cocktail choice and it's still bright and additive-free.
