It’s bold, expressive, and packed with flavor, but never in a way that feels sloppy or overdone. It just tastes alive.
Right away on the nose I got a big hit of cooked agave, citrus, pepper, fresh herbs, earth, and that really beautiful vegetal character that makes still strength tequila so interesting when it’s done well. It has that rustic, high-character profile I love, but it still feels clean and balanced.
The palate is where this bottle really shines. It’s rich, oily, and full of flavor. I got sweet cooked agave up front, then layers of citrus peel, black pepper, minerality, herbal notes, and a really nice earthy backbone. The proof gives it a lot of energy, but it doesn’t drink harsh at all. It’s bold and intense, but in a very controlled way. The finish is long, warm, and loaded with lingering agave, spice, and mineral notes that make you want to keep going back to it.
What I really liked about Cazcanes Nuestras Raíces Still Strength is that it doesn’t feel toned down or made to please everybody. It feels like a bottle for people who genuinely love agave and want something with personality. It has power, texture, and depth, but it’s still very enjoyable to sip. This is not just a high-proof bottle for the sake of being high proof. There’s real substance here.
