Martha Stoumen Post Flirtation White 2024 is a blend of four Mediterranean varieties — 45% Vermentino, 27% Roussanne, 19% Marsanne, and 9% Muscat Blanc — sourced from organically farmed vineyards across California's Central Coast and Northern California. Martha Stoumen's winemaking philosophy is rooted in dry-farming practices and a commitment to working with varieties that thrive in California's warm, sun-driven growing conditions while retaining the freshness and structural precision that characterize her broader portfolio. The Post Flirtation White functions as the white counterpart to the Post Flirtation Red — an approachable, versatile expression designed to represent the best of what the Mediterranean white varieties transplanted to California can produce.
All of Martha Stoumen's wines are fermented with native yeast and bacteria without additions beyond minimal sulfites in some wines. The blend is assembled from components grown on organically managed sites, consistent with the winery's broader commitment to chemical-free farming. The combination of Vermentino's saline lift and citrus character, Roussanne and Marsanne's textural weight and stone fruit depth, and Muscat Blanc's delicate floral contribution produces a wine that is structurally layered without being heavy — each variety contributing a distinct role to the finished blend.
The nose is lively and aromatic, with ocean air salinity, lemon, white peach, and a subtle floral note from the Muscat component. The palate carries texture and brightness in equal measure — the Roussanne and Marsanne lending body and stone fruit richness while the Vermentino and Muscat maintain the wine's freshness and lift. The finish carries a subtle saline quality that gives the wine its sense of place and keeps each sip refreshing. The overall profile is approachable and food-driven, built for warm weather and light fare in equal measure.
