Alma del Jaguar Barricas Pear Wood breaks that rule: this Añejo rested in wild-harvested pear wood casks from Jura, France, a rare departure that gives the tequila a profile unlike anything aged in traditional barrels. It is part of the Barricas series, which showcases the unique character created by different cask finishes.
Aged 22 months, it pairs cooked agave with ripe pear, delicate pear blossom and a touch of baking spice. The wood is soft and fragrant rather than heavy, so the agave stays front and center. At 44% ABV (88 proof) it is made for sipping neat.
Made from 100% puro de agave in Los Altos de Jalisco: cooked in stone and brick ovens, extracted with a roller mill, open-air fermented with wild and cultivated yeast, and double distilled in copper pot stills using deep well water.
