The Oloroso expression in the Alma del Jaguar Barricas series is aged for 22 months in casks that once held rich Oloroso sherry made from Palomino grapes in Jerez, Spain. Barricas showcases the different profiles created by different cask finishes, and this one leans warm, nutty and deeply sweet.
The sherry casks marry cooked agave with toasted nuts, toffee, dried fig, and hints of golden tobacco and autumn leaves. At 44% ABV (88 proof) it is a natural fit for slow sipping by the fire, or for anyone who loves sherry-cask whisky and wants to see what agave does with it.
Made from 100% puro de agave in Los Altos de Jalisco: cooked in stone and brick ovens, extracted with a roller mill, open-air fermented with wild and cultivated yeast, and double distilled in copper pot stills using deep well water.
