Named after the founder of To Kalon, H.W.C is produced from a single clonal selection of Cabernet Sauvignon within the To Kalon vineyard. These vines were originally planted by Robert Mondavi, who was drawn to To Kalon by the depth and richness of the wines he crafted from the same estate in the 1960s. This exceptionally low-yielding selection of Cabernet Sauvignon delivers wines with pronounced energy, a deep black-purple hue, and exceptional aromatic and palate intensity—a precise, high-resolution expression of this noble varietal. The inaugural vintage captures all the best attributes of 2018, boasting remarkable balance, purity, and density. While the wine is not overtly ripe or heavily extracted, it exhibits extraordinary freshness, textural richness, and length on the palate. Its structure remains firm yet elegant, allowing the fruit to shine while maintaining a refined, architectural backbone.
Four additional months of barrel aging impart a heightened level of polish and a silky, seamless finish, enhancing the wine’s overall poise and enduring character.
