Ok so you’ve seen a ton of new pre-made margarita cocktails and maybe you’re curious if any of them are actually good? We did all the “research” for you – yes yes, we tasted a bunch of the canned/ready to drink margaritas on the market and made a list of the best ones for you.

 

These beverages are perfect for the summer…you can throw them in a beach bag or a cooler and have a margarita ready to drink without the hassle of mixing one up yourself.

 

Two Chicks Sparkling Citrus Margarita 

 

 

This is a slightly sweet and very well-balanced with the traditional citrusy flavors of a classic margarita. The subtle agave flavor immediately comes through and has a refreshing and tangy finish. We love this cocktail because you get two servings in a can with 5% alcohol by volume (abv) per serving. We recommend this poured over ice but it’s just as tasty out of the can. What we love about this is it also makes a great mixer. Since the abv on this isn’t wildly high, you can definitely mix this with tequila if you’re looking for a stronger drink.

 

On The Rocks Margarita Cocktail Made with Hornitos Tequila

 

This is definitely one of the more premium ready to drink margarita cocktails. The sleek, fancy glass bottle sets the tone for  what you’re about to experience. This cocktail is made with Hornitos, a mid range tequila, which would be our recommendation when making your own margarita at home. This cocktail has a 20% abv, similar to what you would expect from a margarita at a bar. As the name says, we highly recommend drinking this on the rocks.

 

Cutwater Margarita

 

Tart, a bit sweet with a hint of orange. This canned margarita is made with real tequila and triple sec and lime, exactly the type of ingredients you would find in a classic margarita. It contains 12.5% abv so you’ll definitely get a slight buzz from one can. We recommend pouring this over ice and adding a squeeze of lime.

 

Miami Cocktails Copper Pot Margarita

 

This awesome cocktail is made from blue weber agave wine. Yes, you can make wine from agave! You would never know this is a wine-based cocktail though…the flavor profile is very much similar to a tequila-based cocktail but you’ll get more of a “wine buzz”. We love this cocktail that comes in a 750ml bottle because it’s high in abv (12%) but only 100 calories/serving! It’s also gluten-free and organic so you won’t feel too guilty about drinking this one.

 

If you’re like me and call your tequila on the rocks with a splash of lime juice “a margarita,” then I have the best canned tequila beverages for you. Mamitas Tequila & Lime and Compa Lemon Lime Tequila & Soda are more of a tequila & soda with a splash of lime beverages. Both being around 100 calories each and practically no sugar, they are super easy to sip on.

The Classic Margarita

 

 

Ok, so this classic margarita recipe is really easy – made for those who prefer to spend time drinking than making a drink. Whether you like it blended or on the rocks, either way, this is the easiest margarita you can make:

 

• 2 oz of 1800 Tequila Blanco
• 4 oz of Jose Cuervo Margarita Mix

 

Pour over ice or blend ingredients in a blender with ice. Add a slice of lime to garnish.

 

The Spicy Paloma

 

 

We love this spicy Paloma cocktail for its balance of heat, sweet and tang. Live a little dangerously, give it a try.

 

• 2 oz of Espolon tequila blanco
• 1 oz of Ancho Reyes chile liqueur (add another ounce to kick up the heat)
• 4 oz of Fever Tree sparkling grapefruit
• Squeeze of lime

 

Pour ingredients over ice and add jalapeno slices to garnish

 

The Mezcal Margarita

 

 

If you’re looking for something a bit different, perhaps a more “grown up” margarita, this is the cocktail for you. This mezcal margarita recipe uses the simplest ingredients to make a smoky margarita. Really impress your friends with this special Cinco De Mayo Cocktail recipe.

 

• 2oz of Montelobos Mezcal Espadin
• 1 oz of agave syrup
• 1 oz of lime juice 

 

Pour all ingredients into a shaker, shake for 15 seconds. Pour contents from the shaker into a glass filled with ice. Add a lime wheel to garnish

 

The Pink Margarita

 

 

For those who have a sweet tooth – we have the perfect margarita for you. The sweetness and tartness mingle so beautifully together, you’ll forget there’s tequila in there!

 

• 2oz of Exotico Tequila Blanco
• 1oz of Dekuyper Triple Sec 
• 1-2 splashes of Rose’s Grenadine
• Juice from ½ a lime

 

Combine all ingredients in a shaker and add ice. Shake and pour into a salt-rimmed coupe (or champagne) glass. This cocktail keeps it classy on Cinco De Mayo.

 

The Ultimate Margarita

 

 

Alas…the queen of margaritas – Margarita herself. A margarita made the way margaritas should be made – high quality ingredients combined to make the freshest and tastiest margarita

 

• 2oz Casamigos Tequila Blanco
• 1 oz Cointreau orange liqueur
• 1 oz real lime juice

 

Combine all ingredients in a shaker and add ice. Shake and pour into a salt-rimmed ice glass. Garnish with a lime wheel. Indulge in the best classic margarita you’ll ever have.
